Default GMF 8" Grinder - Restoration In Progress

This is a project I picked up a while ago and just got stuck into recently during the holidays.

It's not as impressive as some of the restoration jobs I've seen here, but it is a start.

I have yet to nickel plate the switch plate and all of the nuts and bolts.

Looks great! Have to admit I'm a sucker for the old GMF grinders, they have a great style about them.

That grinder looks great. What condition was it in when you obtained it?

I ask because I picked up a 1HP GMF Bench Grinder recently - almost original condition with a few minor issues. It could do with a clean-up but otherwise I could just about leave it as-is (it is a grey one). I'm not sure whether to invest the time in restoring it. I can post pictures if interested.

Great grinder. My dad has one , never had to do any work to it and it still takes approx. 4 mins to run down when switched off
