    Default Huge Bandsaw

A blacksmith I know showed me a bandsaw he had received as part of a package deal. It and its parts filled a biggish trailer and the tray of his FALCON UTE. It is complete and had to be pulled apart to make it moveable - I have not seen so much castiron in one place for a long time. Apparently it can saw up to 800mm wide and the resaw capacity would be huge by my standards.

I could not get a complete look at the makers name but it appears to be G E WRIGHT M**FR (MANFR?) NEW ORANGE N J and it looks like it has been converted to electricity from belt drive - still has belt drive pulley.

The drive wheels are huge I did not have a tape with me but I think around 32 inches - they are on a cast hub with steel spokes and wooden rims with rubber tyres - in good condition there was also a set of cast wheels - i do not know where they fit into the picture.

It was in Canberra today but on its way down the coast as soon as Tom had packed up from the market.

He doesnt know what to do with it and is thinking of giving it all good spray with Inox and sticking it under a tarp while he ponders - it is definitely extra to his needs and he is saving it from the scrapyard.

If anyone wants to get in contact with him his website is www.thomaswestra.com.au .

I also took some photos on my Iphone but have to work out how to shrink them to get them on here. PM me if you want me to send them as an e-mail.

I was offered one of these a year ago.
Being on a plane to Canada I passed it onto my local Men's Shed.
Jim picked it and 6 other machines up the next day.
I was meant to be refurbishing the guides but have escaped back to Canada for the summer
Matty provided the plate for a post I did in the Canadian forum.
