Default JA Fay & Egan 12" Jointer

Ok... I have added some more old cast iron to the collection. I picked up this 12" No 61 JA Fay & Egan jointer on the weekend.... Will need to finish some of my other half finished restorations before I can get into this beauty.

Looks to have the original cutter block... however the blades, blade holder blocks and some of the screws are missing.

The only real damage that I can see are many of the cast areas around the verniers for the table heights are cracked. There must be a lot of stress at these points as some have been repaired and cracked again.

Just wondering if there any Fay & Egan gurus out there that could date this machine.. Matty has told me that it seems they weren't made after 1925... I assume the number on this plate is a serial number if anyone has a time line associated with these serial numbers.

    Hi Gaza
No idea if this is of any value to you but I have this old 12 inch cutter block that I have been meaning to take to the scrap metal yard. As you can see from the photos it has a complete 12 inch blade and the other one is a bit shorter. The blade holder blocks are there and most of the screws although they are a different style. I know that you are a million miles from Melbourne but it is yours if you want it.

Thanks mate.... I would like to see if I can get or make the bits for the cutter block if I can... It will be a while before I get to restore this one so hopefully something pops up while I am waiting... I am thinking that the US will be my best bet as I don't think that there would be many of these in Australia.
    I appreciate your offer though.
