Does the upper section of the spindle on those unbolt so you see a hollow lower section to fit other spindles in ?

Wadkin EQ Spindle moulders and others have spindles that fit the hole exposed by undoing the big bronze nut and removing what ever other spindle is fitted . The router spindle or French spindle or longer than standard spindles like ones that are either extra long or can take a bearing up top to be held in a stand that bolts to the table can then be fitted . If the Jeffwood doesn’t unscrew , I don’t know if a screw on fitting to take a router bit was ever available to fit the top of any standard one piece spindle moulders . I have still got plenty to learn though .

OK there is a possibility that the spindle can be removed but I don't have the tool to do it - see pics - there are two little holes either side of the spindle. Anyway none of this helps me as I don't have another spindle and given I already have a router table I don't think going to the trouble to find something or make something is worth it.

Yep . That looks to be a standard shaft to Me. Without a removable part on top . Maybe not though , Its a bit hard to tell from here .

With the EQ, The bronze big nut (Red Arrow) fits the EQ spindle (Red Arrow) and the interchangeable parts fit the Hole
    (Green Arrow) .

Spindle bearings sit lower, under all this . You see some machines where the fittings have tapered shafts that fit a tapered hole in the spindle .

The Bronze nut and hole dotted Red Arrow below.

I never noticed a hole (Lower down) for removing the fitting on the EQ shaft I have out . I will have to have a closer look .
Getting a fitting out on a machine that's been sitting for decades can be interesting . Their such a close fit and sort of sweat into place with possibly oil or what ever they were put in there with. If anything ?

Interesting - from what I can tell my spindle isn't made to be swapped out - all good. The machine came with a dovetail jig but am not convinced that it's for this machine as I got a few other obscure things that doesn't seem to belong to the machine.

Thanks for the photos - that locking device looks relatively easy to make. Will look at making something out of a thick piece of metal.

I saw another one for sale today on FB Marketplace which has some cutters.

Yes pictures would be good. I mean it's easy enough to take a measurement of the bolt head it has to fit but if I know what an original one looks like I could look to make it similar at the very least.
