    Default Jeffwood Spindle Moulder 402

I bought a Jeffwood Spindle moulder last weekend. I've yet to take some photos but will post some when I get a chance. It came with a silly amount of tooling which I'd say is worth more than the actual machine! It also came with a dovetail jig but can't tell if this is complete. Does anyone by chance have any info on this machine? Pictures for reference?

Some pictures of the machine - needs a good cleanup and lubrication.

This is the dovetail jig which seems to be missing bits - just don't know what? I also have some dovetail cutters which would screw into some sort of collet that then connects to the shaft, unfortunately thats missing too rendering the dovetailing capabilities useless.

I got a heap of tooling with the machine which I am chuffed about. The shaft is 1 1/4 wide. All but one block fits. The one that doesn't fit, seems to be 1 5/16 or there abouts - it's a bigger block which I think a lot of the cutters in the box are for but unable to to use it unless I could machine some sort of sleeve.

This machine was originally a 3-phase machine. The single phase motor that is on the machine comes with a pulley much smaller than the original. From my calculations the shaft RPM would run around 6650RPM (using a calculation from Pulley size and RPM)

The shaft driving pulley has two size pulley's so I can change speeds. The belt is currently on the larger of the two pulleys. The smaller size pulley which I can't accurately measure may put the shaft speed up over 10,000RPM.

I can't find a manual for this machine online but the following is for a comparable machine (Woodfast):

If you use the smaller pulley, on the motor side, this will decrease the spindle rpm, if it’s on the spindle side it will increase the rpm.

    Hello Charlie,
I have just bought the exact same machine serial No 147.
Mine has a three phase motor dated 1960. Its not the original as it does not line up well with the original internal smaller pulley.
The three Phase motor 3hp is rated at 1435 rpm at 50 cycles.
Great buy with all of the tooling that you got. Mine came with none.
Did you get the Slip in tool that locks the spindle while you unto the big nut to fit the tooling?
I am building a heavy duty base as its quite low for me and I want to be able to use my pallet trolley to move it around.
I have ordered tooling from China will have to wait and see how that works out.

Thats awesome. I can't see that I have the tool your referring to - any idea what it looks like?

Where from China are you buying tooling from out of curiosity?

I will post some photos of the lock tool when I get back home.
I will also post images of the tooling when it arrives.

I fabricated a stand from 305mm tall I-beam that was laying around. This allows me to move it around with a pallet trolley or forklift.
I still have to take off the drive motor and align it properly. Then make belt guards and some sort of dust extraction inlet.
The table was too low for me. With the stand it's a bit on the tall side now. I may have to take 50-75 mm out from the height.

Nice one - that base gives it a bigger foot print which is good! I know what you mean regarding the height. I find this with most machines being 6 foot. I've got mobile base my table saw is currently on so will look at putting the spindle moulder on that for the time being.

Does anyone know where I can get a router collet that I can attach to the spindle. I've done some Googling and I can't find anything.
