Great Melbourne manufacturers - Waldown & Parken
I know they're not antique machines, but I recently acquired a few nice pieces from Waldown & Parken - I believe that both of these great Australian companies are still operating down south, and they're certainly collectable.
I already have 4 or 5 Waldown bench drills in various states of condition, and will be looking to do some repair & restoration on these as a retirement project. However, I recently found a floor mounted pedestal drill in pristine condition which had been converted to include an electronic speed controller, so of course I had to have it. I also acquired a nice big Parken linisher from the same guy in Melbourne, so both of these pieces are also patiently awaiting further progress on the shed construction. Interestingly, it was Parken Engineering that completed the electronic conversion on the Waldown drill.
Why is it that everything I am interested to buy is always far south in Melbourne or far north in Queensland? I end up spending more on couriers & freighters than on the equipment.
