Paul Call Jointer help identifying odd fence attachment
Hi All
Have seen this advertised on FB Marketplace (looks in good nick). I'm intrigued by the bit hanging off the fence. Have tried a google search for Paul Call jointers and not seen anything similar. Anyone have an idea as to its purpose? These are the only pics available on FB. Last one is zoomed in on the bit. Have tried a message to the seller but no response.
Thanks
Tim

Thats how you move the fence in and out. Theres a steel rod (you can see it in the photo) that the fence slides on. I had one for a while. They are a good solid little machine. Fairly simple, not much to go wrong.
It looks like someone has quickly assembled it for the photo because the fence isn't on properly.
The blades have been removed from the head. Make sure he has the gibs?...bits that hold the blades in.

That's the mechanism that allows the fence to slide left/right, on a bar that the silver knob locks on; and to tilt on the steel axis closer to the fence. There should be a tilt locking mechanism hidden on the end of the fence.

What NCArcher said - it is the fence.
i have one that was my fathers. He was a builder and took it onsite when building houses etc. Good part of old machines is they are simple & usually easy to fit. I find setting up the blade heights a pain. Should have asked my father to show me how when he was alive.

Thanks! Now that you have explained it, makes perfect sense! Haven't seen this arrangement before. Having the mechanism attached at the indeed table makes sense too.
