Paulcall 12" Bandsaw - oh calamity
After years of sterling service, my old Paulcall has let me down!
As the pictures show, the drive shaft has snapped at the lower wheel end. I'm not sure why, but I need a new drive shaft. Anyone got any ideas?
The centre part measures 0.875" diameter and the diameter at the two ends measures 0.625". I suppose, if worse comes to worst, I'll have to find someone to turn it for me and mill in the keyway.
Any suggestions welcome.

I don't think you have any choice but to get it machined. Try posting in the metalwork forum. Should be plenty of members that could do that for you. It's small enough to post so it doesn't have to be local.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

I have a brilliant machinist at Asquith, you take him the two pieces and he will make a new one exactly the same( except of course it will be one piece). PM me for the number.

Here is the finished article (photographed on top of a photo I sent the machinist with the pieces). It seems to fit perfectly (I'll grease it and seat it home tonight).
Thanks for the lead, Peter.
