A rare Jen-son centre lathe
I only know of one other here in Sydney C.E. Vaughan, Electrical Engineers, Hill st Guildford, serial number 83
8 speed with current drive, lead screw is internal under the bed with a lay shaft supplying drive from the head stock, 36" bed, swing around 8"
Runs well, although I had to replace the chuck, it still has its original face plate.
Anybody seen or heard of the Jen-son?Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso

Interesting odd lathe.
Thanks for putting up that link dubrossa.
There is a photo on there of a chain drive on the headstock end with crude guarding.
Reminds me of a story my father told my bro and I from when he was at Tech during his fitting and turning apprenticeship in the 1930s.
One of the apprentices had his finger/fingers run between the chain and sprocket but fortunately the teacher being quick thinking put the lathe in reverse and ran them out again.
Might have been one of these lathes.
