    Default Unknown make Bandsaw

Hi... Does anyone recognise this band saw ? .. no markings anywhere on the machine.. Its a 14 inch x approx 91 inch blade.. No play in the bottom end, but the top needs attention, and looks a bit lightly constructed in comparison.
A bit worried about the fitting of the guide mounting rod/bar... Its a hex bar that appears to have lead poured around it !!.. the hex stock does not appear to be original.

I don't recognise the saw. However the use of whitemetal (babbit) around the top guide bar is not unusual (at least in older bandsaws). My 1928 30" Preston has a similar arrangement around a square bar.

I guess what matters is whether the bar (and guide) holds the blade in line with the wheels. If not, you may need to melt out, and re-pour, the whitemetal.

    Cheers, Vann.

Thanks for the reply.. Luckily the guide lines up perfectly with the wheels...Today I attempted to strip down the pivoting top axle assembly but hit a snag. the casting that holds the axle, pivots on two small pins that are driven in from either side.. I thought it unusual and a weak point.
