VFD for old 3-phase motors
Hey, I have taken everyone's advice and am going down the VFD route for my old bandsaws mainly due to:
- Replacing with a single phase means I would likely need to buy a motor pulley to match the shaft size (19mm) that is common to 3HP single phase motors - so total cost would exceed roughly $220 - $240.
- A VFD will allow to retain original motor and therefore pulley
- A VFD will allow to set slow start-up of what ever I configure
Any other advantages you can think of?
When I scratched the surface with buying a VFD some time ago for my then 3-Phase Dyco Table Saw I was told I need very little information to configure the VFD example:
1. Motor Rated Voltage 415v 2. Motor Rated current (Amps/FLA/FLC) at given voltage to be wired FLC: 6.9A 3. Motor rated RPM ( Number of Poles) 2 Poles (2810 RPM) 4. Cycles (HZ) a.k.a. Frequency; 60HZ or 50HZ dependent upon design. 50Hz 5. Power – KW 2.2HP / 1.65KW
- The above said does anyone see any issues with this VFD from Conon: 2.2kw/3HP Three Phase Variable Frequency Drive compact Inverter VSD VFD ?
- They talk about hooking up two motors to the VFD a I understand it (https://cononmotor.com.au/wp-content...0-Brochure.pdf)
- Do both the motors need to be identical with identical stats and config?

The motors are as below:
