I was a bit deflated and hate saying this but 'it's the principle of it' - lol!

Well it doesn't present well but surface rust is a relatively easy fix. The electronics may be a different mater if it's copped some rain and stood outside.

Anyway see how it pans out...

    What’s the plan?
Get one of your mates to lead him up the garden path and then disappear.
You then reappear and offer him say $1k.

When I sold mine I got a bit over $3k for it.
That was about 25 years ago and it was a goer and was tried out by the buyer who was local.

I find buying stuff thru Facebook marketplace next to impossible normally.

Good luck, it’s worth chasing but there is stuff coming up all the atm.
Not necessarily Wadkin or Bursgreen but still ok gear.

I scored an Italian 16” four knife under and over 6 months back for peanuts.
Out of a patternshop, dirty but a solid good machine.
Didn’t really want it but to score the Wadkin Bobbin I just bought the complete ‘shop.

lol ... that could be a plan

I think with FB it's made it so easy to list stuff and has increased peoples awareness of buying 2nd hand in general. Gumtree, eBay, etc didn't have the social component so have less 'members/accounts' in general which I think generally decreased the volume of whats available and people who used those platforms.

I have noticed an influx of stuff coming on the market - some really good old stuff floating around like you say, for decent prices too!
