Wadkin Bobbin latest acquisition.
Picked this up from the John Heine Foundry closure.
Bought the pattern shop to get it
Anyhu here’s a few pics.
2 bobbins and the corresponding inserts for tilting the table.
Ill have to knock up a few like Jack does in Al and ply to maximise the dust extraction on vertical use.
Probably make a smaller Bobbin to complete the set.
Very dirty as was every thing from the pattern shop.

Nice one Henry. There was one in Vic a few weeks back that went for about 3G and sold fast.
And I was told a story by someone that another guy who had one got a big electric shock off it . The wiring hadn't been checked and the moving parts had worn through the cable which got the body live . And apparently there were no circuit breakers in the old factory he was in. If that's true he's lucky to be alive. Dream machine though.

The patternmaker only did runners, risers, repairs and mods.
The patterns would have been made by a jobbing shop, so we’ll probably see them fail in a year or so unless they can diversify to another type of work. Maybe they can build submarines, nobody else in the country has any idea or means to do so, I forgot, the poms will do it after they finish our amazing new frigates.
I put a few photos re the Foundry in the metalwork forum under John Heine.
The other machines were
Stetson 16” under and over plainer/jointer which I’ll keep if it fits in the new room I’m building in my shop. 4 knife cutterhead, a mate has given me a set of knives, I think he has plans as he’s building a bookcase down his hallway.
Barker 30” double disc which I’ll move on after I finish fabricating and fitting some guards I’d made for an abandoned double disc project using those spare Wadkin discs I’d aquired.
Woodfast 18” bandsaw which is going to the NSW Woodworkers Association after new tyres and a paint job etc. The mate who gave me the plainer knives has the identical bandsaw so that helps.
Another bobbin
A bench top machine on a nice fabricated angle iron stand which I gave to the mate who put me onto the stuff and helped me get the first ute load home.
This Bobbin spun and went up and down about 6 times and stalled !?
This was at my place the day before I was to drop it and another freeby a delta 6” jointer to the mate. I was a bit nonplussed and potentially embarrassed, so pulled it apart, cleaned all the crap out and removed all the burrs left in manufacture and it ran perfectly.
I wish I’d taken photos as it was a neat movement and not too shabby in construction and design for an elcheapo.

Love these. The last one I saw for sale other than the recent one was in Sydney which sold for $1,000 which I thought wasn't too bad a price but that was at least 4yrs ago. It ironically it was up on Gumtree for a couple of weeks. From memory it was grey/dark blue in colour.

Great machine Henry! Always nice to have all the original inserts and bobbins. Look forward to seeing some more pictures when you have it setup.
