Default Wadkin CK - South East Australia

My first thinking was I'll search and try & find a Wadkin PK Table Saw to restore... BUT they can be expensive. SO ... to get my Wadkin addiction fix I am thinking of restoring a Wadkin CK. I've currently got a Bosch Gliding 12" Compound mitre saw which work very well but would be happy to get rid of it and replace it with a Wadkin CK.

So if any of you gentlemen have one thats collecting dust and not being used or know of a friend, family, peer or acquaintance then shout out. I would be willing to travel within reason (lets just say loosely 3-4hrs either side of Brisbane).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, in Australia the Wadkin CK seems to be rarer than the Wadkin PK - while being common on this side of the Ditch (see the thread "Wadkin CK Anyone?").

Thanks Vann, I am afraid you may say that ... I wonder what it would cost to ship one across the ditch?

Woodlogic should be able to help you with that. He's imported several old Wadkins.

Over here, I've not seen one sell for $200 (usually $150-$190) but it's possible one or two may have slipped through above that. That doesn't stop sellers listing them for $500-$700 (over and over again ).

I bought mine for $50 (dismantled), a parts machine for $60, and parts off a BCK (a CK assembled at a Burgreen factory after the takeover) for $50. I am a bottom feeder .

    Cheers, Vann.

Thanks Vann, I will suss it out. I think I would definitely be over capitalising. Even if it cost $100, I would envisage logistics would exceed ~$500. Then there is the cost of restoration.

Shipping rates in the last two weeks have dropped like a stone.

I woundnt be surprised if the airlines let you bring it on a hand luggage soon (if this China Thing goes as it... goes).

Dont be too negative. There are part-container-shippers who will pop it into a container and get it here. Might take a while, but they do exist (dont know any in NZ though)
