    Default Wadkin DR Bandsaw

The Blackall Range Woodcrafters Guild (known as "Woodies") held an event called "Woodies Wonderful Weekend of Wood" so I thought I would pay it a visit and they had 5 Bandsaws in their wood machine section one of which being a Wadkin DR, so I thought I would take a pic of the Tag for Vann, because I don't think it is on his list.

Finally got around to reading the tag.
    It says DR 28xx
So is this a 28” throat/wheel size machine?

Hi, Never heard of Wadkin offering the DR in 28". All the literature I've see has 30" & 36"

28 in the test number doesn't usually refer to a throat size.

    Have fun,

    Alli

I may call in there this week and if I can I will take some more pic's and measure the wheel size, but it did look bigger than my LS Barker 28"

Thanks for thinking of me. I always appreciate a Wadkin tag photo for the info it gives. The tags reads DR 2854s sc6679. The 'SC' indicates it was built for Wadkin by a sub-contractor and unfortunately records of sub-contractor tests have not surfaced.

The best I can say is those square tags were introduced in 1951. I think the first square tags didn't have the "Patent" so it may be much later than 1951.

But I'm reluctant to research tags in more detail as I'm already a Wadkin tag anorak... .

    Cheers, Vann.
