    Default Wadkin PK dust collection

Ive been setting up dust collection in the workshop for ages. Its going good and I'm almost done. I just hooked up the PK which is a big dust spewing thing and workshop life is a step better. The cyclone I have has a huge air flow so it takes all except the annoying small amount that the blade throws forward at me above the table. Tweaking the fence may improve that a little.

    Here's some pictures.

I made this steel sleeve that slides over the PK outlet.
First a wood block a touch oversize as the outlet was made and two pieces of 1.5mm steel were formed with a bit of hammering and bending around that to meet.

    Then some welding and grinding

After some questions in the dust section here on forum I settled on making the transition from my steel sleeve to the 150mm duct using PVC over the top of both . Heating and stretching it worked so good that when it cooled I couldn't get it off the sleeve to apply Poly glue. More heating to get it off and both sides were glued.

The band clamp is there to rotate the pipe when I adjust saw to cut 45 degree cuts and I will have two flexi hose sections
or more if needed to handle change of angle.

I have my Bursgreen 10 AGS behind the PK and it got connected up as well . Being on pallets gets the duct under the AGS and up the center of the cabinet. Now the ducts are in I discovered need to adjust the AGS for more space when someone tailing out is wanted. I'm thinking 300 mm to the right in the left picture below should do it.

Next was problem solving how to get the blast gate open and closed easy while standing at the front of the machine. I'm having a ball using this set up . left pic is open and right pic is closed. Nice smooth and easy to use too. Ive got some more to do to the lever and maybe it'll be painted one day as well .

Nice one Rob - I'll be looking to fashion something up for mine when I get it - this gives me a good idea

    Hi Rob,

Did you previously have a 100mm duct port on your PK? If so, did you find much of an improvement in increasing to 150mm? I’m currently installing a metal duct system as well, so keen to know if it’s worthwhile in building a new port like you have done.

    Regards,
    Raymond

    Hi Raymond .
No I had nothing prior to this fitting . I just took a dust shower every time I used it .
I went with 150 because it’s the recommended size that the guys use and talk about in the dust extraction part of forum . And it’s a good match anyway for the back Of the PK, DR and RD.
I have a thread in the dust extraction part of forum that I will add the link to here later which is about my set up which is all metal 150 and 200 spiral duct . It’s fantastic .
I wouldn't go smaller on the PK if I had a choice .
I get huge suction under the table on the PK and it’s very good but I still have some dust escaping through the gaps around the blade flask. And the fence / blade alignment throws some back at me as well . Marcello did a great removable addition under his table to seal off gaps which he says is 100% affective . I would like to do the same . And I’ve still got to sort fence alignment a little better.

Hi Rob - side question if I may....your AGS10 looks like it has a cast iron extension table and nothing holding it up ??? Original was sheet metal with a couple of legs...What's going on there?
Looks like you're making plenty of progress with your new setup.
    Hope all's well with you

    Hi John .
Yes it does have a cast iron extension to the table that is original I think . The saw came from a McEwans hardware store I was told, and they would have ordered it that way . I’ve never seen a cast iron extension as an option in my catalogs though , only sheet metal . It’s got two legs holding it up as well . Standard Wadkin Bursgreen I think .
I will add pictures later . I tried before and couldn’t get it to load .

I've never seen one with the iron extension table Rob - thanks for the photos.
The iron top (thickness and end radii) certainly look like Wadkin Bursgreen - is it a single piece or two "wings" joined in the center ?
Interesting dust hood over the motor too...never seen that before either...is it closed in at the bottom ?
Apologies for the questions in your PK thread !!
I like that you have the whole thing including the extension on a single pallet (with a tow ball !!) Mine is directly on the floor and a real pain to move...I see a similar pallet in the near future!

No probs with me changing subject mid thread John .
No tow ball on that one but I do add wheels and have a tow point on some other things .
It’s a seperate piece and held in place by four bolts through the front and rear round bar .
The dust hood door I made and fitted . There is a thread here somewhere that shows all this I think . From a long time ago .
Its open inside at the bottom . That’s where the extraction takes the dust . The saw used to be on the wooden floor in the old workshop and dust extraction pipe went through that floor . Raising it on a pallet here with the concrete floor is how the dust extraction takes it away now . Most of my things are on custom pallets now . I shift them with the pallet Jack . The pallets also enabled me to get the two tabke saws level with each other which is good fir saving space . One out feeds to the other . I keep a thin kerf blade in the 10 AGS Bursgreen .
