The guard isn't complete as it's missing the inside section. May look at fabricating something and incorporating overhead dust collection.

That's how they came . No inside section . All Ive seen are added by owners. If you add something there narrow stuff cant be cut unless you add a removable fence modification for narrow stuff.

They spew dust without extraction . If the suction at the lower port is good enough most of it is taken away and just a small amount the blade throws forward comes out of mine . I believe its the fence alignment doing it as the right side of my blade takes a skim as wood the is leaving . Something Ive got to adjust. Its the slight wobble of the fence in the slot though so not just a tweak of the fence screws . And Ive got my first fence back on with its long wood extension. Not the second fence which I have to fit a wood extension to yet . So Ive got to see how that fence goes. Ive been using that mostly but needed the wood extension one for the last job . It makes a huge difference to a long stable cut.

Thanks for the clarification. I've been thinking of rigging up something to do tenons - something that will slide along the fence - will need to think about!

Look into fitting a dado blade. A lot smaller than 18" . With the slider or a sled it would do a good job of tenons . I just did a sled on my AGS which cuts tenons great. I did it just for haunches but it does tenons as well. Its a set of stacked blades with 5/8 hole . Not the old Wadkin bronze spinning death blades like I have on the BRA.

Anyone seen a dado fitting for a PK spindle . Got a picture ? I think Jack had one or had one made ?

Rather than trying to find the original Wadkin type fitting for a dado which would never show up it would be better to get a new one turned up by Jalor tools in Knoxfield . A fitting that screws on and has a stub that is the right dimension for a modern dado set. 3/4 or 1" ?

I did rig up something with a sled on my old saw which wasn't too bad. Cutting the end grain was a bit inaccurate is it required the timber to be dead square to the surface which was always a bit tricky and was privy to get it out by to 1 degree.

    This is the AGS sled

Wood lays face down and hits the stop . Two passes cuts 38mm . Dado is 19mm.
Flip to do the other side.
Blades are a CMT set with 5/8 hole . largest I could fit was about 19mm wide on the AGS shaft.

Hmm ... I like that! Way better than having a length of wood sitting up vertically!
