Wadkin RM Planer Thicknesser - Thicknesser Table Rise & Fall Tips
Hi Folks,
I've recently taken carriage of a new custom-made helical head for my Wadkin RM 26" planer thicknesser. While I'm swapping the cutterheads over, I thought I might tidy up the crank handle that lowers/raises the thicknesser table. It's not seized, however it is rather strained, particularly on the rise. Anyone that has come across articles or has some experience in improving the movement, please let me know.
Regards,
Raymond.

You have probably already got this https://www.daltonswadkin.com/wp-con...ser-Manual.pdf
If you could share some pic's of your machine that would be great.

Hey Raymond,
I've got the same problem with my PK in tilting to 45º. I couldn't even get it past about 25º. I couldn't really see why it was so tight apart from jammed and gummed up saw dust on the worm gear but I don't think that was the major cause of it. What I think the cause could be is brass vertical worm gear needs a thin shim so it better aligns with the mating cog. Maybe there is an ability to adjust the actual worm gear up & down? I've not had a good look. I'm busy restoring the saw so when I put it all back together again I'll let you know. At the very least food for thought.
I don't know much about the RM and the access to these mechanisms but you'll probably have to look at pulling it apart and having a fiddle.
Cheers
Charl
