In another thread a few comments were made about the Australian WW2, and like it usually does, it led me down a path to find some information available about the recorded history.
I found this book on the Australian War Memorial website.
And have had my head in it since.....

Volume V – The Role of Science and Industry (1st edition, 1958)
Mellor, David Paver

I only had some basic information about this effort, learned from conversations with my dad who was a paint chemist with GMH from 1956 - 1980s

Some of members here have direct knowledge about some of this effort, and I thought a separate thread would be better to record some of those memories, and since we are approaching ANZAC day, a fitting testament to the home grown manufacturing and science effort of the Australian population, and how it relates to our particular interest in the machinery.
The numbers of machines available at the time, and the rate the industry expanded is breathtaking.

Cheers,
Peter
