I should be there. We have had a lot of wet wood last week. 5 inches or rain one night. Hundreds of trees down around here.
    I am learning, slowley.

    Hi Friday Prattlers.

This is the book I was talking about.

It really is an interesting read.

    book.jpgcontents.jpg

The Genius of Japanese Carpentry - secrets of an ancient craft

    Azby Brown

    isbn 978-4-8053-1276-6

I have never done anything that I would call "Japanese Carpentry" but it is amazing how often I find myself considering information I got from this book in my projects. It's fairly rare but a google search will find copies for sale.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Sounds like the volume is down? Or maybe the app is muted? I'm not familiar with Android or tablet. Are you using an app, or the web version?

Hi Bob, we could see you as well.... i could see your session saying connecting to audio and then it seemed to connect but we could not hear you and i assume you could not hear us.

Not sure if you were connecting via a browser or a client

You can actually join a test meeting to see if it's all working.

Hope you can join us next week

Thanks for the replies, at least I know the video is working. Installed the app just before the meeting. Will try to work it out for next week.

On the topic of Router table routers at least, i modified my years old GMC platinum to be able to adjust it above the table, part of this involved removing the plunge springs with the benefit that i got more height to change bits above the table.
The wind up section was replace by some custom M12 rod and M12 hex end, both are glued together with suitable epoxy in a m12 coupler that was ground down to fit.
The white plastic in the hollow shaft is actually a 3d printed spacer to center the shaft. The other end screws through an M12 insert nut to provide the positive up/down movement.

The only negative is the hex head fills up with sawdust in use

With the mill, the quick simple adapter to use a cordless drill for winding the x/y axis tables was this.
    P6250061.jpgP6250062.jpg

Doing them again i would not do the "pretty" 6 cutouts for the handle, it was dumb as it hurts if you catch yourself when its spinning.
I would add three screw holes for mount screws and tap 3 holes in the handle for a solid connection.
The center bolt could be a Hex head likely pinned in place so the nuts were not protruding.

The idea was the unit could be easy to remove, in practice i never take it off.

Enjoyed meeting up today for the first time, even though it took 3 goes to get the sound going.

For anyone else wanting to use Zoom for the first time these are the things I found out:
    - In the device settings you need to give Zoom permission to use the camera and microphone
    - Within Zoom itself there are 3 settings to check in the meetings settings:
    1) "Auto connect to audio" - set to WiFi
    2) "Always mute my microphone" - set to off
    3) Not sound related but also important is "Always turn off my video" - again set to off
    - Last but still important is to make sure the device volume is set to somewhere well above zero.

I found that after about 5 or 10 minutes things went a bit slow and the connection seemed to drop out twice and then automatically reconnect. This could be due to my tablet being too slow to process the video and audio. If I seem to be unresponsive in future meetings it could be this rather than me falling asleep.
