Reminder for the Friday prattle and a call out to anyone with time to join in.

This weeks topic is: whatever grabs anyone tomorrow - update on Doug's new computer drill, is it running? and a bell mouth dust hood for my own nova

As always it is great to catch up regardless.

Friday: Time: 12:00 - 12:40 AEST - or better Midday on the east coast, 11:30AM SA/NT, 10AM in WA, 2AM UTC and 9PM US Central (i think)
Yep that's lunchtime for some of us so bring a coffee and donut.

    Great catchup

and we settled on a topic for next Friday (15th)...

Your own shed layout... to help discussion it would be good if people could draw up a basic sketch of their layout and why it works for them.

Some good ideas already from today, such as running shelving at 90deg to a wall.

    Have a great weekend

    Cheers

We did chat about third party options for drill press laser guides and Wixey do make one
    Wixey.com - Drill Press Laser

Seems to be available everywhere though my personal recommendation would be these guys -> Wixey WL133 Pillar Drill laser | machine-dro.co.uk

I cant be completely sure but I think that is where I got my Wixey gauge I installed on my thicknesser maybe 5 of 6 years back.

I did a WIP thread on the install because there was quite a bit of fabrication involved to marry the two, but I can't find it anywhere any more.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

I should be there but it will depend on the traffic. Partial lift of COVID restrictions today so if there was ever a day with a big chance of an accident on the Western Ring Road, today's the day. People will probably be out in big numbers just because they can. But really there's no point. They eased the travel restrictions but nothing much is open that wasn't open last week.

    Unfortunately another pass for me...

Have been busy working over the past few weeks with work...
The good news is, 2 weeks ago Lance alerted me that a mini Woodfast lathe was for sale on Gumtree at a good asking price.
I drove to Launceston last Friday to get it. Lance had a good look at it and it works without having any repairs to do. I also got a chuck and HSS turning tools in the deal.

    Pics will follow!

Will have to build a sturdy mobile stand before anything else and only then will try my hand at turning.

    Happy prattle,

    Yvan

This weeks topic is: (as suggested by Lance) people pick someone's photo they would like the story behind, obvious must be someone in the chatter to ask

For context, I'm going to ask Paul about the current state of the shipping container studio, and how it's panned out.
