In the mean time, I have been doing some light research on the internet. Trying to get some inspiration.

I also came across this dovetail plane from Jim Bode's website. Seems very cool.

The fence in the plane on Jim's website looks very cool. I like the way how the knicker is added. I have been thinking about adding a knicker into the plane, if i want to cut across the grain.

After watching the video from the Chinese bloke's Youtube, he describes planes like this to be a one time use tool. So they would have the blade with them when they go. Then they would make the plane on the job to suit the job that they're doing. Then once they've finished the job, they piff the block of wood away and keep the blade.

I think these planes were primarily used to make the male ends of the sliding dovetails that went under table top for Chinese style tables. This is actually a good ass idea as it can yeet the table top flat if the wood decides to move.

These are just some stuff I've been looking at. And maybe I also need to make a skew rebate plane to complement the two dovetail planes. That is what the Chinese bloke uses to clean up the joint at the end. But I may be getting ahead of myself...
