And another days work. I am starting to get into the filing more and feel my patience growing. I agree with Matt, that it becomes a bit Zen like.

Starting to give the lever cap some 3D structure as well.

However, I hope I don't get disqualified. I had some help from the queen.

Now I have to change my plan again. I was thinking of embedding a coin to give my plane some monetary worth

Bob, perhaps you could still keep the gold theme going, and encrust your plane with some of those gold nuggets you Victorians have been hoarding .

I'm sure the Queen would be pleased - and I'm sure She's used to working under pressure.

My workbench has now officially crossed the threshold from creative chaos to progress inhibiting insanity. But somewhere inbetween you might find a working frog.

Still needs further shaping and refining but everything is together a working. I will write about that a bit more later.

Was the transition from Chaos to insanity difficult,I’m asking for a friend.
    The frog looks good tho.

    Cheers Matt.

That's a very thin line. It only takes a drop of one more tool and you are doomed....

And it's a long way back from there, but I made it....

    Aah, the serenity!

But I prefer the excitement of discovery, finding the tool I'm after buried under shavings

    It did not last long.

Out came the tools again and refined the frog and lever cap.

I was tossing a bit between options to fix the lever cap to the frog. I ended up with some kind of M5 grub screws. The threads for the screws arw tapped into the frog brackets and just reach into holes in the side of the lever cap.

I couldn't tap the lever cap. I only have a tap for through holes and then the hole would have come out on the inside of the cut out I have in the lever cap.

Further I also did not want to use counter sink screws. I felt the heads would be too big for the brackets and wouldn't look right.

In principle it is ready to get a plane build around it. But I think I will leave it at that for now. The rest will be done when I fit it into the plane body.

However, before I get to that I will build my practise infill scrub plane.

I will start a separate thread for the scrub plane as that one is just for practise. So there would not be much new on this thread for a while.

After I finished my practise plane I am getting ready to continue on my challenge plane.

Here is the practise scrub plane which turned out quite ok I would say and made me confident to be able to do the body for the challenge plane.

    Infill Scrub Plane

Now for the challenge plane I got back and relooked at my design.

First I decided to make the sides curved. I think otherwise it'll become too bulky.

On the other hand I am not sure on the rear handle. I have an option with a closed and one with an open handle.

    Which one would you prefer?

Just note whatever you say I will do the opposite because I know you want to throw me off the winning path. Although now that you know that you might use that and hence I will exactly follow your advise because I know you think that I'll do the opposite.

C..p now you know that too.... So who knows what I am going to do [emoji6]

Obviously this is a blatant attempt to throw us off the scent; I suspect you’re going to mount a pivoting receiver to take a long spar type handle inspired by the Stanley 74
