I have to admit that the reference also eluded me. I did put that down to cultural barrier. And when I tried to google that it did sound weird. Isn't 1984 a dark story? Not sure if I understand the connection. [emoji849]

But anyway I like the idea of nicknames and will leave it to others to give one to my plane. [emoji6]

A small clue: How did Eric Blair, a journalist, who wrote under the nom de plume of George Orwell, determine the future time setting for his book "1984?"

How am I implicated, when I did not choose the name of my plane, yet the culprit is siting right next to the judge.
Next said judge will be calling us a bunch of animals on a farm [emoji3064].

    Cheers Matt.

    Matt

Are you suggesting that it was me?

We are all animals: We just forget that because we have a smart phone.

I must admit the Model 2012 reference is not immediately apparent but I have a hunch that Orwell picked the “84” year as a reverse of the year he wrote the book: 1948. This would tie in with Model 2012 being named in 2021.

    Do I win $5?

You've got it. Matt, can you pay the Chief please as I am a little short of funds?

Actually, although widely quoted, the theory is just that: A theory; There is no conclusive evidence or corroboration by Orwell/Blair that this reversal of the numbers is the case. The book was published in 1949 after some initial delays. I think the author died in 1950 from tuberculosis. 1950 was, I thought, a good year, but clearly not for everybody.

    So, Model 2012?

    Chief,
If you could let your people know through some other people that those people need to see a person, via my people in Deli,
I’m sure we can sort something out.

    Cheers Matt.

The nickname is by no means a done deal; just a suggestion, but if you decide to run with it, I think somebody who can make a silk purse out of that sow's ear hole will have no trouble incorporating a name.

Well as I said nicknaming is mainly done by others and not oneself.

However, when I look at my plane and thinking of Matt's plane called "The body" because of some shape characteristics, then my plane reminds me a bit of a tug boat. Short and fat and heavy and made for precision work.

In my hometown tug boats are the heroes in the harbour. No big ship is allowed on without them. They maneuver the biggest container ship into the tightest space with absolute ease and precision.

They are even celebrated every year by performing a tug boat ballet. They are mostly names "Bugsier" followed by a number. The word means loosely translated "maneuverer".

So maybe mine can have the nickname "Bugsier 2012" or if you want to keep it more English "Tuggie 2012". Let's see what sticks [emoji6]

Here is an example of the tug boat ballet.

I settled on T-2012 and here is some progress.

The adjuster block is just a mock up for now and needs some shaping as well as the rest of the rear infill. Although I am now thinking whether I should make that in brass or keep it in wood. Will see.
