    Pushing the goal post....

Rear infill done and ready to receive finish and being glued in.

It is very hard to get perfect fit with the curved brass. I might need to do some touch up.

Also notice I am using a small piece of hairy oak for the adjuster block. I heard some judges really fancy that type of wood ;-)

Wasn't sure how to transition the side pieces to the handle. I decided for a slight curve which stages nice with the frog and blade when looking from behind.

    Cklett,
Everyone else is being too polite an honest, I personally don’t subscribe to those sorts of low life comments.
That’s a very sexy rear end you have there,I’m just saying what everyone is thinking, don’t go singling me out.

    Cheers Matt.

Very nice work! I like the colours and the shaping details, too.

Immmm is it the front bun infill timber pattern copying the blade, but upside down.
You are aware of what one of the esteem judges does for a living I hope.!!

I have not thought of that, but no.

I did like the 'butterflied' wood figure on my scrub plane and so I thought I repeat that here.

After this I will have a plane for the very rough work and one for the very last finishing work. That can only mean I have to make also one or two for the intermediate works D

    Default Very nice work

Congratulations on making a very nice looking plane. There's a lot of work, time and effort gone into the construction of your plane.
    Regards
    Anthony

Finally epoxied the infill in. I glued it before leaving for Easter and today sanded it all down.

I decided not to do cross pins, but use screws instead. I did not have the courage to drill straight through on the curved body left to my own devices. Also the screws helped keeping the infills in place and not moving around. I did test the screws on some scraps first to see how different their color is compared to the sides. Luckily they are not standing out much.

    Cklett,

That’s looking well like a scraper plane should, I think too screw in the infills like you have is more than acceptable, actually , it’s quite clever, otherwise it would have been quite difficult.

    Cheers Matt.

If you hadn't told me there were screws, I don't think I'd even notice - they blend in quite well. Nicely done!

Getting close now CK and I completely agree with Steve. How thick a blade are you intending to use?
