Result being that Matt got to do it with files and whetstones. Just as well the blade hadn't been hardened - but then he did need a bit more exercise

    Na,
It was a combined effort on the stuff up, it was easily done, I think we both suffered some kind of weird combination brain fart.

Like Bob said, the workout didn’t kill me.

    Cheers Matt.

Have a read here of Patrick Leach’s appraisal of this somewhat unique tool!
This is a blatant digression, but I think Patrick's explanation for the name is a bit glib & possibly not correct. If the plane was named because it was for knocking the 'fur' off fresh-sawn wood, surely it would've been called a "de-furring" plane?

I suspect the name comes from the building trades use of the word in the sense of 'levelling'. e.g. as in "furring strips" & so on. But I couldn't find much in the various on-line dictionaries to back that up, none of the ones I consulted explain how/why the word "furring" became used in his context.

Of course, this has nothing to do with Matt's plane......

Or "to arris an edge", when in fact the arrris is what's being removed.

Not that in any way at all picky or CDO but it looks like you might have had a couple of degrees of yaw to port when flattening the sole. If you add a touch of starboard wheel you should be able to make the sanding lines run fore-and-aft and looking tiddly.

Only 6 big sleeps left and I can back to mine!

    Chief,
Just tilt your screen a bit, an I think you’ll find it’s almost kind off, pretty close, she be right mate, straight.
It’s really all relative to your own perspective.[emoji6]

    Cheers Matt.

I think Matt had already predicted the degree of skew he is going to give the plane when in use. Then the lines are perfect in the direction of travel [emoji16]

Looks good, but next I would like to see The Body from the top again.... Wondering what other surprise you have in store for us....

By the way, that new workbench is awesome!

I like the degree of curve on the front: it seems somehow....appropriate for a tool so named.

I feel some of the admirers of the “body” may need more monitoring, while using social networks, or maybe just get out a bit more.[emoji6]

I think you are on the money here Paul, but I am wondering about the lack of curve on the rear end, now I seem to have an old song going round and round in my head.

She's looking great Matt and I love the new bench too. The Monash might become the new trend in benches.
