Thinking about talking to the United Nations, regarding possible side effects in middle aged men regarding the Coronavirus disease,
I feel it may have some neurological effects as well.

Paul, this finish is a High gloss rattle can varnish,I was going to try French polishing the wood work, but decided I had enough on my plate at present.
Cheers Matt.

Started carving what I hope is my last Lever Cap for the Body today, carving being the appropriate word, but I’m blessed to be able to be using a Dremel for some of it.
Marked out the area to be removed, drilled as much waste as I could, a few hack saw cuts, then began the power carving with the Dremel.
Lever caps overall size is 19 mm thick 97 mm long 49 mm wide.
Also spent a little bit of time on a bit of bling.
I hope I’m not judged to critically for only using kitchen towel, an not a table cloth[emoji3064].
Cheers Matt.

You could have at least draw a nice pattern on the paper towel [emoji6]
Interesting feature on you lever cap. Looking forward to the result.

Reamegence of the fabled tablecloth, may my repugnant sins be forgiven by all.
So I finally have, I think all major and minor components are made for the “Body” and all of them need to be finished and polished to some degree, except the Cross Pin.
But ,that’s a big hurdle done,it should be down hill from here, fingers crossed.
The Hung Lever Cap is starting to emerge from that huge chunk of Brass.
The cross pin slot needs a bit of tidying up, but that’s me just being fussy, mechanically it’s working fine, and once the plane is assembled you can’t even see the slot ,the pin will be 5 mm and it easily slips over that.
But ,fitting the pin will be done at a later date when I’ve got enough courage behind me lol.
I’m not sure if my escapement area is to tight, ie have I made a choke point with shavings coming through immmmm.
But from what I can tell by Auntie Google ,pictures I think I’m ok, plus I have a little bit of extra meat left at the front of the Cap Iron that can be carved off.
The rear timber work there is a heap of work to do plus ,the front timber as well needs more work.
And a few other little things I want to take care of like a ton of metal polishing to be done.
Grubby hands to follow.
Cheers Matt.

Matt
I wondered if you would consider shaping the the top part of the blade too. It is looking a little square and somewhat out of place on "The Body."

Better register your design, Matt, before the people at Bridge City see it......

Matt
If the polishing is anything like the screw cap furled knob it will be spectacular, but will each facet have a Matt reflection in super gloss (Is that an oxymoron?)
Matt reflection.PNG
And, how distorted, bitter or twisted will they be?
Just asking: Not really a suggestion: Not really my idea. Actually it could be an Elle of an idea now I think on it, depending on who takes the pix.
