    Thanks Paul,

The shavings are on the thick side a bit still, but that’s too be expected, I still need to work on the plane iron a bit more, flatten it more, an sharpen it more than I have(it was an inpatient rush job)
The mouth will possibly get opened up a smidge as well.

    Cheers Matt.

Good to see that she shaves...

Award yourself an extra Mercury Draught for a splendid effort.

Nice work Matt! She's going to look great when all polished up. Cider is good for polishing brass?

You could stop here, Matt, but I reckon it will be a tad more comfortable to use with a bit 'o stuffin'......

Excuse me Ian, you may well be one of the esteemed judges, but the body will not be getting “bit o stuffin..”

She will be dressed in the fines of River red gum made to fit her slender body like a silk glove.

    Cheers Matt.

    Default Challenge 2020 - 2021 Simplicity

At the end of play for another day,
The River Red Gum infills are starting to come along, some call them stuffings cough,
Still a little bit of chipping to be removed from one corner [emoji3064].

    Cheers Matt

    That looks amazing.
But one question. I see you just have a round rod sticking up to connect the knob to the front infill. I am wondering if there us a risk that even if you glue it in that it might come loose and twist while planing? Have you thought of a way to prevent that also with a mechanical lock? Or am I just over engineering things?

It may not move if epoxied, but a couple of panel pins with the heads cut off and glued in place on the bun should suffice. As the point is down the bun can be gently tapped against the metal. That will mark the pin points in the metal which can then be drilled.

    Cklett,

You have caught me off guard again, my intentions are to rely on the strength of modern glues, surface area, plus the 8 mm stud.
But ,with hindsight being such a ....... of a noun if I was to do the front in fill again I would cut all three pieces into there ruff respective sizes , drill a 7.5 mm hole through each centre of each piece, then mark out each individual piece referencing from the 7.5mm hole, do all my shaping and sanding of each piece, then tap the 7.5 mm hole for an M8 stud.
Sounds easy when you just say it like that!!.
Actually ,I would probably start with 1 mm hole, then mark out then later drill that hole to 7.5 mm hole.

    Cheers Matt.
