I’m a happy little vegemite today, during the Friday prattle Zoom meeting.

    I can commence having a Soul ).

Sorry if this is a little look at me look at me.
    Cheers Matt.

    That’s the idea,
I’m sure it will take awhile to chew through that lot tho.

    Cheers Matt.

It would seem the Metal heads, have had a day of progress.

I now have my soul ruffle cut to size, it’s part of the large piece of 01 Tool steel I brought, hopefully that pays dividends when it comes to lapping the plane flat, fingers crossed.
I’ve also made a chatter plate for the Blade to bear against, instead of just the timber infill.
This has been lapped on a tile with wed and try too 180 grit, I might leave that till I can check it on my surface plate at home.
This will be pinned to the sides an soul later.
Once I file the bottom to 45 degrees.
The two rectangles were to shed some wait I’m getting a bit concerned about needing a Sherman tank to pull my plane along.
Or I’m just over thinking everything.

    Cheers Matt.

    Looking good.

I might have to borrow your Sherman tank to pull my plane as well [emoji6]

Looking the goods there Matt, I think you might be overworrying about the weight, they say the extra weight of the infill planes helps for the plane to glide through the timber.
I think you should fill those cavities with lead to add a bit of extra weight, or perhaps from some of the rumours getting around, you could melt some of your gold nuggets down and fill with gold instead. This would help to impress the judges to no end, and free up you plane to perform to the level it deserves

Your trying to lead me astray , that’s not nice, I’m easily lead, and a very bad at telling right from wrong.

    Cheers Matt.

Matt, I am a bit disappointed that you are thinking the worst of me. I have never used an infill plane, so cannot speak from first hand experience until I get to try the plane I am building, but if the stories and folklore are to be believed, then the proof will be in the pudding. I am thinking about drilling some cavities into the soul of my plane and filling them with lead because we don’t have much gold in Queensland, I think the soul will be the best place to add weight to keep the center of gravity low, to make the plane glide even easier through the timber.

Yes, we are pretty lucky in that respect, though a bit cloudy today and was a light rain earlier, gives everything a drink at least.

Maybe it’s a plot to steal the gold while you’re all in lockdown
