In fact there has to be a least one other brass mouth: Maybe two as I think the scrub blade will need much more clearance if it is to work as intended.

I this is some sort of a combination bench plane!? Different blades, mouth pieces and handle for shooting. I think you should also make a fence for jointing square. You can use the threaded hole for the shooting handle to also attach a fence...

The Anti-Body has indeed evolved that way in that potentially (I stress "potentially") it should be able to be all things to all men (and women). In fact it could be a universal plane providing it's size is not too big an issue. However, I have for a long time railed against universal machines as typically they do everything moderately well, but nothing perfectly. Nothing beats a dedicated tool to a single task. My personal challenge with this exercise (apart from finding the time to make the tool) was to part with very little money in the build and to make as versatile as possible. In making it as versatile as possible it automatically becomes less friendly to use in that the time taken to swap from one mode to another increases.

A fence could be added easily. I will have to think about that as I am running short of time. I think it would need a second screwed hole, not that it is a problem, to secure a fence rigidly.

On the naming of "The Anti-Body" I think we may well have confused it, in our enthusiasm for innuendo , with anti-matter. I was looking up anti-bodies and there appears to be a group of five (coincidentally I have five blades) proteins that form part of the immune system. Consequently, I am now looking into presenting this tool to our esteemed judges (who are truly wonderful people ) as having the ability to keep you safe from Covid-19. That is, if you use the plane almost continuously, don't go anywhere and as a result do not subject yourself to the Covid world, you are less likely to contract the dreaded lurghi!

I had to do a little work on the sole (yes, on the soul too probably would not have gone amiss, but this method is a bit too abrasive for my liking). I have a piece of compressed fibre board that Luke Maddux gave to me before he left for the States. It was designed for this sort of work. The white 80grit paper goes conveniently dark when it is removing metal:

I could probably keep going with this game for a week, but I think I have done enough to ensure the plane will work or not work. These following shavings were from before the sole was flattened.

Not really much difference in the pine. It will be interesting to try on real timber . Since that time I have re-sharpened the blades and flattened a small area of the back behind the cutting edge, but I have not been able to test that out yet as I am refinishing the timber work. I was unhappy with the full gloss look. Full gloss varnish is very unforgiving, but it also, to my mind, can look a little garish. I am a sucker for bright and shiny objects and I suspect I was a bower bird in a former life. However, I am working towards a satin finish at the moment.

A second brass mouth is being made so the fifth blade, the scrub blade, can be accommodated. I have also since engraved the sharpening angles on the back of the blades as the felt tip will wear off.

It is all the fiddly bits that are taking the time.

Well, you've met the criteria for proceeding to judging, Paul, not just shavings, but shavings x 4!

I am curious to see how the multiple blade-angle options work out for you in the long run, like where you choose to use the various angles & in particular, how much difference you notice between the two extremes (25 & 40 deg) of cutting angles. It looks like you were taking finer shavings with the 25 deg. blade so it should have felt easier for that reason as well as the lower cutting angle. OTH, once you overcome static inertia & get that behemoth moving, I reckon even ironbark won't slow it down much....

With each blade I was trying to take a fine shaving. When I measured the shavings there was almost no difference in thickness, but I wasn't happy with the quality of the shavings. By that I mean the shaving is an indicator of the plane's capability: It is certainly not the end game in itself.

I think pine is very forgiving and almost any sharp blade will work. I am trying the different angles to see how they will cope with the difficult timbers. It is all a big experiment for me. However, I have not yet tried to see how those cranky timbers behave. Yes, I am close to posting on the finished thread, but I have to finish off the timber infill, hopefully, this weekend.

I set up the last blade today with a larger mouth suitable (I hoped) for a scrub plane.

The gloss has gone from the timber temporarily, plus the planing produced some dust from the treated pine offcut that I planed. I will oil and polish the timber tomorrow and take some shots for the finish thread (that's not a Scandinavian element is it?) . I also have to devise some words to spruik the Anti-body and make it seem better than it is. I will listen to some of Scomo's speeches to see if I can pick up some tips.

What do you mean? That is fantastic. I don't think the Anti-body needs to hide. It has everything one wants in an anti-body. Suitable to fight any disease. Rough timber, smooth timber and possibly cranky timber..... and looks absolutely "wunderbar"

I’m feeling there’s a parallel between the Ant body and Ned(Old mate as some in my circle would say [emoji20]).
Kind of multiple personalities almost, the “Body” is certainly blushing I dear say.
