Hi VERNR,
In the past few years, I have developed a real passion for rebuilding old fibreglass boats.
Especially some Tassie classics, like Purdon and FiGlass.
You have done a great job with your restoration.
Congratulations.

Hey thanks for the encouragement Paul and Vern. Nice job on the dingy by the way mate. Thanks for posting the pics.
Wonderful news!!!! My laconic chum from the fishing club came over and poked around with his sharp objects and said the hull is in excellent cond, the boat is professionally built not home build and it "is a worthwhile project". I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders!!!!

WHoooo-Hoooo !!!
Now don't you be turning it into a "home-built" now, ya hear ?
Except for the home-builts on this forum , which are bona fide Works Of Art, far superior to 'professional-builts"
(Except for those boats professionally built by PAR and CCBB & AD & Hooked Up & MIK) (did I miss anyone?.. )

Hi B.O.A.T.
You raise a very interesting point about the differences between boat builders and amateurs.
I am constantly in awe of the fine work of amateur boat builders.
At the recent Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart, I saw some amazing work.
Apart from the training and experience, the armature has one very important advantage a professional does not generally have. TIME.
We are paid by contract. We have to achieve an economical outcome for our clients and provide a high quality product in the best possible time frame.
An armature builder with a really good set of plans, unlimited time and support of his/her family, can beat us for presentation of a finished boat.
E.G. One chap I spoke to at the Festival, had spent 5 years building his dinghy. Every timber was book ended and appeared perfect. His finish was far in excess of anything the finest cabinet maker aim for.
I guess what I am saying is. NEVER KNOCK an AMATURE BUILT BOAT.
They can be veeerrrrryy good.
