What can use for a bending strap?
I'm steam bending timber....and I need a strap to help stop tension on the outside of the bend. uno.
One bloke I've read uses 1/16" spring steel.
In town today I asked a metal worker what had in spring steel, and all he's got is 3mm stuff that'll he'll temper for me.......but I fear it'll be too hard to bend, being so thick. Charge me the earth too.
Got any ideas where I could salvage spring steel from. Something real flexible. Old car part or something like ?

That thin stuff they use on the bundles of timber that Studley arranges (also seen around pallets) should work.

I just use truck tie down straps or roof rack straps depending on the width i need. I think they are just nylon webbing. They don't rust like the steel will so there is no risk of staining the timber with these and you just hang them to dry when finished.
