    Default New boat with pics.

    Howdy ya'll!
I'm Dave, a Yank. Been lurking here for a while, and thought I'd go ahead and post some pics of my latest project, which I'm pretty proud of and want to show off.

She's a Wee Lassie solo canoe, which I have modified a bit. 10'6" long by 27" wide, which I think is 3.2 m x 68.5cm, weighs around 7.5kg. Skinned with heavy duty 18 gauge vinyl, which is very tough, basically tear proof and pretty puncture resistant -unless there's something very sharp involved. Alaskan Yellow Cedar for the stringers and wales, Red Oak for the ribs and floorboards. Mostly lashed, but with some epoxy here and there.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy looking at her. Questions and comments welcome!

    Dave Gentry

And, yes, the boat is fully skinned and ready to paddle!

You can have the see through skin, that'd freak me out ... besides, my woodwork is best kept hidden from small children and those of a delicate nature.

    Lovely looking boat .

ps, change the title of the thread to reflect the name of the boat, it'll make it easier for other uses to stumble over.

lovely looking canoe, looks like some real craftsmanship went in to building her.

but as Daddles said the see through vinyl would scar the hell out of me,
plus i reckon people are going to think you're Jesus paddling about on the water in just a canoe frame

    waving to the crocs...
