What a shocker of a day , gusts up to gale force , rain squalls , a typical Portland winters day.
And then there was Bob , and Morna.
Very much Bobs interpretation of a Eun Mara.
Hundreds of people , just as many cameras , but I wasn't one of them (with a camera).
She came off the trailer very easily , seemingly much easier than HS.
And eventually , they were away , Bob and his crewman Brad , both very competent sailors .
The Mizzen went up , then the headsail , people thought that was enough.
But I've sailed with Bob , and i knew the mainsail would go up.
    It did !.
Reefed , but up it went , now 2 high peaked sails , and a headsail.
Morna was really scooting along , a couple of times our hearts were in our mouths , as she flew past the end of the pier , in the gusty winds.
When she came in , the springer pulled her up too quickly , and oops , in Brad went , and bounced out just as quickly !.
    Very impressive Brad !.
But the day belonged to Bob , and Morna.
The hearts of all of those present went out to you !.
    Well done mate !.
    Regards Rob J.

Two things that interested me with Bobs Morna setup were the little winches , and the track and carriage for the gaff.
It seemed to work very well.
And the self furler on the headsail was a beauty too.

Morna 2380.jpgFrom todays front page of the "Portland Observer".
Note the what I would call a carriage , on the track for the high peaked gaff.
Some better informed could describe it better , if so , please do !.
