Cold Moulding Timbers
Ok I've just picked myself up off the floor.
I've just been through ScottyK's Waller 5.4 thread, hang on, getting giddy again... After seeing that, I've almost canned the idea of strip planking, although I'd still like to do it one day.
He has used King Billy for the cold moulding, what other timber types would be suitable for this type of building, keeping mind the weight would want to be at the lower end of the scale?
Any input and advice greatly appreciated.
Regards
Matt

Howdy Catbuilder,
As a devil's advocate:
Absolutely, positively dropped the strip planking???
Might be in for extra labour and a higher materials cost.
Not absolutely true but it can work out that way with a lot of projects.

Hi Mik
Yeah I'm hearing ya. But it just looks so good!
Apart from that could, if you were painting the outside anyway, use 4mm Gaboon ply as the cold mould pieces? I think theres reference to it in the study plans.
I guess looking at the whole picture from building the frame work for cold mould and then the hull material on top of that. Perhaps strip plank still could be a front runner.
Thanks Mik, more to consider at this point.
Regards
Matt
