That's the theory Paul, but my bathroom ceiling says different.
    Somewhat different environment, granted.
But the mould didn't just wipe off that.
It did just wipe off the boat.
Taking steps to ensure decent ventilation of both..

I should add gloss acrylics are best. Is your ceiling gloss?

    Touché.
    It wasn't.
    But it is now.
    And contains propylene glycol & something I can't remember - benzo-something.

Have got a clear gloss acrylic here somewhere.
Will spot sand the shiny bits & exposed wood, & apply that.
Unless I change my mind & do something different...

    Default and what happened next?

AJ this thread came to a screaming halt and I want to know what happened to the Hartley. Did it work?

Hi Erik. Must have posted finale in a different thread or something. Crook back and neck. Just plain too sore for too long after each session working on the floor inside the cabin. A few days between sessions to recover started stretching to weeks. So I sold it about a year ago before I made any undoable changes. Went to a young man down Glenelg way who was looking for a project boat. he might fit the new cases or stick with the original plate. I'm now finishing off and tweaking a George Holmes "Ethel III". Most of the work is waist height so no pain. Mostly little details and sanding / recoating perished varnish so, although I started a thread, I haven't bothered posting much.
    cheers

Ah, that's a shame. I had been thinking of a similar project to modify a 16 rather than built a whole new boat, and I was really looking forward to seeing how it worked. Not to worry,

David, there was a "project TS" sitting on a trailer on Blacks Rd near Manning Rd this arvo.
Not sure if it's for sale.
Only got half a look from the truck on the way past, but it didn't look good...

    Interesting.
This bloke has built pretty much what I intended.
Same thought processes about the end product.
Apparently it works very well too.
Only key differences being junk rig vs balanced lug, & he's retained the original centre-plate.

    Took him 16 years.
Reckon I was tracking close to that but with a lot less work to do.
