Default To Fiberglass from the Chine or not

    Hi Everyone,
I am just about to start my epoxy work on the Qualia you can see it on a thread from a couple of days ago. My question is the hull will be clear coated so do i really need to use fiberglass matt from the chines to the sheer.
The material is Honduras Mohogany and is 6mm thick and beneath that is another 4mm of marine ply so there is no doubt of the strength,

Any thoughts suggestions would be great

You don't use mat with epoxy, it's not necessary nor desired. It also wouldn't produce the clear finish you desire.

Use light weight cloth. 4 ounce or lighter cloth is virtually invisible once wetted out. 6 ounce is nearly invisible, but if you're close enough and the angle of the light just right, you can see the weave. Any fabrics over this will progressively become more visible, proportionately with weight.

Do you need it? Nope, but in a year or two, you wish you had it if you don't. The fabric will offer considerable abrasion protection, compared to unsheathed wood.
