Well , after Saturday morning , I can see my boating days are over.
And probably Coast Guard too.
She should appear as a "For Sale" notice very soon.
I finished the painting today , somehow.
Hopefully back on the water soon.

Everything is spot on , on her now.
I'm just waiting now for a mate to find the time to help re-rig her , and she is back in the water.
I'll try to get her out as much as possible , till she is sold , but I'm thinking I'll have to perhaps reef her a bit , so I can get the sail up with these hands , and probably motor sail a lot.
Which is fine , if I'm singlehanded.
But reading the Navigation (collision) regulations , if I'm motor sailing , I see (legally) I'm supposed to "exhibit forward where it can best be seen a conical shape , apex down".
I've never seen this done , or never been aware of it , can anyone elaborate ?.

Yes I have heard of this Rob, but as above you would be hard pushed to find any one doing it. Its probably hard to rig where its visible all round, let alone finding anyone knowing what it means!!!
I 'd suggest if you want to comply that you could make up two black painted plywood triangles that fit together so that when viewed from any angle it resembles a cone. A hole top and bottom for a halyard.
Well done on finishing your boat, best of luck with the sale. Your advertiser contacted me about your boat after I'd mentioned somewhere that I was building a GS. So he's working for you.

Well , I'm not going to lose any sleep about this cone Andrew , but I reckon I could rig something up on the inboard part of the bowsprit .
I spoke to Leckie today , we are going to re-rig HS on Sunday , maybe even launch her again on Sunday.
If not very soon after.
Yes , I'm very happy with the way HS has scrubbed up , but I reckon the best thing is the new anti-slip deck.
I'm hoping Mike has the advert out soon , and she finds a new owner while she is so fresh , and the weather is good.

Well , HS is pretty well re-rigged .
Now , just have to work out a time when there are less "frozen snot" fishing boats using the ramp , and we can put her back in the water.

We had hoped to get HS out yesterday , but the forecast predicted rain , and a squall blowing through , up to 45 knots.
So , we put it off to mid next week.
The squall didn't arrive till later in the afternoon , and we got 1 1/2 inches of rain , which was welcome.
We probably could have got her out , but I don't want to be pushed for time , so next week is fine.

I just wiped down the engine bay today , its nice to see a shiny white bilge , not like when I first got her.No oil leaks , no fuel leaks , a dripless shaft seal , its the way it should be.

Yes , boots do tend to leave great tread marks everywhere , I'll have to find my plastic numbers again.
They were deadly on the old deck , it will be interesting to see how they go on the non slip deck.
A (relatively) empty shed !.
Hmm , lets get that PDR on centre stage now !.

Well , HS is back on the water , no dramas at all.
What surprised me , was how quickly (1/2 a turn) it took to fire up the Lombardini , its a sweet little engine.
And the people , the cameras !.
Particularly older men , using words like "beautiful" , words that you wouldn't expect from these tough old "b-----'s .
All sorts of people , and I've got to admit , I couldn't stop that bit of a strut.
Anyway , she is back on the water , and easily the best she has ever been.

Today HS performed beautifully , and yes , she is back to being a fishing boat , we caught heaps of 'couta today.
But we ran in to a really lumpy patch , and I left a "burley trail".
Sailed her off and on to her mooring.
Maybe take her out tomorrow , again.

Dunno how much more sailing I'll be doing.
For the last 3 days I've gone down to Portland , wanting to go out to HS , and take her out under engine power , but my hands ache that much , I haven't even pulled the tender out of the ute.
I'm supposed to be going out tomorrow with Leckie , but I don't think its gonna happen.
