Welcome Madaz, I've seen your pics and they are absolutely wonderful.
Huge build that makes mine feel like a bath toy. I look forward to news of her progress. These big cats are a whole other lifestyle aren't they.

I dont have any specific plans to cruise anywhere in the boat. I think we will stick around the Hobart area for some time and get used it then maybe do a trip up the east coast of Tas or around the southwest corner into port Davey, a very remote location, check it out on google earth.
I have been installing ceiling panels the last week or so and running the start of electrical cables for lights etc so the inside is slowly changing

Another beautifully built Waller!!
Great job!!
I take it you are building her in Hobart??
I'm an old Launnie boy and used to work for Tamar Marine and Almasts.
If you are after a rig have a chat to Stu at Almasts and tell him Ben from Boating Hardware said you would look after you!!!
Cheers,
Mez

They do let me out in daylight, but most people dont like to see me.. I normally sit on a BMW R1200 with red and blue lights and only ever have bad news for people. $$$
Yes Mez the boat is being built just out of hobart, I bought my mast with a group of six in hobart buyign masts, we ended up buying them from David Lambourne, wish i hadnt though.

What strikes me most in the latest shots (apart from the pleasure that you've obviously taken installing some 'real' wood) is the amount of surface articulation and storage....and both of those soak up hours and hours of work. But those things also create some very interesting spaces too. I think it's going to be a very comfortable place to spend time.

hello
sorry to bump an old thread just have a couple of questions about waller catamarans and have found very little info online about them! i am in nz and i am looking at building his 35' coral sea design, it would be for full time liveaboard and eventually offshore cruising, posssibly around the world. can anyone comment on the suitability of this design for proper offshore work? i do not want to go any larger than 35'. would the modifiction to a full enclosed cabin with access to the hulls be an easy one? any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated!
thanks.

Hello Adam,
I dont post very often on this forum, more recent posts relating to my Coral Cove 31 build can be viewed at YACHT BUILDING CORNER :: View topic - RUA-WAKA
You will find a plethora of information for home building catamarans on this website, also in the members multis section is a sub heading from Adam Cels in Napier who is building one of Mikes 1100 cats. This cat would be better suited to what you are proposing.
I modified my corol cove 31 and enclosed the back of the bridgedeck cabin and also put solid aft and foredecks on it with foredeck lockers. It is a fairly minor modification, in order to do it you woul dbe best to discuss it with Mike Waller though, he is more than helpful but like all designers doesnt like people making significant structural modifications which is fair enough. You might also consider the 31 if there is only one of you as it sleeps upto 7! 2 doubles, a single and you can convert the bridgedeck table to a double if you wanted also.
What you are proposing to do though is to get a low cost beam construction cat to be like a slightly dearer full bridgedeck cat, which is exactly what i have done. on the coral sea and coral cove cats the hulls are held together with massive box beams which are glued in place in big epoxy filled beam seats, the centre cabin area is not therefore a necessary part of the boat and can be left off to have an open bridgedeck cat, you beam design cats are not designed to be lifted from under the centre cabin area though also, they should be lifted by the hulls.
In contrast a boat like adams waller 1100 is a full bridgedeck cat so the bulkheads run right accross the boat and encompass the bridgedeck section so it is a necessary and structural part of the boat. I had a bloke fly over from auckland to have a look inside my boat as he was interested in building one also. It would be a good idea to have a look on as many as you can before you start to build, you can contact adam cels through the site i posted a link to if you are able to drive to napier and have a look it woul dbe a good idea. you are welcome to ask me any questions about how I modified my coral cove 31 to do what you are intending also.

In terms of dollars my cat is going to cost around $70,000. it could be built for less but i have put alot of toys in it. something like a waller 1100 you could probably double your build cost!!!
