    Default Milky Finish

    Hi
The varnish on the inner planks is starting to go milky I think it is painted in Deks 2 part do I just sand back the milky sections then repaint
or are there any other steps to take.
Also the floorboards have lost there colour and turned grey (they are the reeded deck boards) can I sand and recolour with something like Cabots decking oil.

    All thoughts suggestions appreciated.

    Nick

Hi Nick-Not sure on the issue on 'Milky' sections as there are no pictures to go off here...

I have had good results on the use of Osmo Polyx Oil (either Satin or Matt finish) in particular on the Folkboat refurbishment being undertaken. It is a hard wax oil that does not demand rocket science to apply and or recoating-Give it a try!
Depending if the floorboards are solid timber or veneer, and if they are solid, I would sand out the grey back to a good substrate. Leaving the grey even with staining the finished product will still be patchy. You will get a great result by putting in the extra effort! Have fun
