Default Oregon looking for a boatbuilder

I am in the unfortunate position of needing to downsize my workshop and I have two 6m lengths of 3x1 (inch) dressed oregon which I have had for many years, thinking that one day ........
This is beautifully clear straight grain, originally bought as a mast blank, and would be a pity to cut it up for firewood, as it is impossible to buy this quality today, but I won't have room to keep it.
If any forum member has a use, send me a PM.

It'd be perfect for the mast / gaff / boom of my 16 footer, were it not for the fact that I'm ages from where you are!

    Best of luck!

It's cruel when down sizing means clearing out great timber. I'm an oregon fan from way back - particularly for internal fitout - just love the colour & grain.
So much beautiful timber in every house demolition. A mate works for a company that maintains apartments and it seems they are constantly repacing balcony rails - mostly oregon and only rotten on the ends. Most of it is dumped - CRIMINAL.
    Anyway, sorry to digress.
I'm sure you'll find a good home for your well seasoned timber. (and I'm also too far away - Morgan S.A.)

    Hey Greamet,

    Thanks for the heads up.

Hmmm Oregon, very nice. Just having a look at the materials list of the OozeGooze I need 65x12x4700 and 41x12x4700, 2 of each. Might be able to squeeze out a mast. What do you think? )

    G'day Ace,
It will depend on how the mast is to be built. As the sizes stand, you couldn't get those from the blank, but if the mast is designed as a build-up, laminate, a different method of construction could work.
    Q. Is it a bermudan or a gaff rig?
    Q. what are the finished dimensions of the mast?
    Q. Does it have an internal luff groove or an external luff track?
    Q. Is it solid or hollow?
    Q. does it have diamond stays?
    Cheers
    Graeme
