    Default Paint stripping

    Ok i know this must have come up before,but i can't find it.So again,,,lol
I'm doing some serious repainting of two boats i have. A ts16 and my canoe. The ts16 is under control regarding strippers.I just got he meanest one i could buy at Bunnings,as i have no idea what paint was used earlier. Now i have heard that this stuff can affect epoxy? Not an issue with the ts16.but the canoe hull is painted with it,under the waterbased house acrylic paint. Can any one recommend a stripper that'll remove this ordinary paint but NOT harm epoxy?

The can of stripper will say "safe for fiberglass" on it. This is the safest stuff to use, though most epoxies will tolerate regular strippers too, unless you leave it on for way too long.

Probably a bit late to reply to this thread but the best paint stripper in my opinion is a product called "PeelAway Paint Removal System".

    http://www.peelaway.com.au/index.php?route=common/home

I used it on my 20' F/glass boat and it was very, very, good. It was easy to use, did NOT harm the the f/glass at all and had NO adverse effect on the Botecote epoxy I had been using. It is washed off with water and claims to be enviromentally friendly, also it did not burn when I accidently got it on my skin. Great stuff.

    redx.
