Thread: Paulownia in Perth??

I suspect 3.5 metre lengths will be the best you can do anywhere, I think that's about the length of the raw logs that get imported. At least that's what I found when I ordered Paulownia for my Goat Island skiff. You just end up doing some scarfing to get the five or so metre lengths you need for a kayak (or a sailboat).

Hi Kev,

Some of the planks I get are 4.6 metres and odd ones even longer. The difficuly is transporting them. Once they go over 3.5 m it adds considerably to the freight cost and you still have to join them to get the length you need .

Thanks guys, I've had a response from a Paulownia farm in WA who are thinning at the moment, they may be able to accomadate. I was hoping to avoid scarfing. Fingers crossed!
