Power to Sail Conversion
I am looking to convert an old Hartly designed 14 foot power boat, with an outboard to sail. Has anyone had experience with a similar conversion? I am not looking at super performance, just a fun family sailer and a bit more experience before I begin another project, possible an Oughtred Gannet or a Ross Lillistone First Mate.

If you have sailing experience you will be quite disappointed with the conversion's preformance abilities. Even with a world class set of appendages, you'll still have pretty crappy sailing abilities with a full plane powerboat hull form.
Considering the cost and effort to convert a powerboat, you should consider finding a worn out dayboat, toss a new set of sails on it, maybe some minor repairs for about the same cost and effort. I've seen many seemingly sound boats selling for next to nothing from desperate owners. A $500 bill will buy a pretty darn nice little boat and you don't have to figure out where to stick the mast, plus it'll come with sails.

Here are two examples that get you sailing with a whole lot less effort.
