The 'QUALIA' Slowly but surely
Gday Everyone,
Well its been a long long time since I have posted on the progress of my mahogony motor cruiser, like all projects its costing me more and taking way longer than predicted. XMAS is approaching so I wil be able to get some solid shed time in over the holidays.
Well here she is mahogonay planking completed, fibreglassed the sides undercoated to the keel and ready for the keel shoe to be formed.
I think she is looking good.
What do you think

Looks great Archie! Care to go into some more detail and pics about glassing the sides and your plans for the paint? I am very close to glassing my boat below the waterline, and working out what products i'll use to paint and what paint scheme etc. Would be very interested to hear more on how you got her to this stage, looks awesome. What motor/gearbox and shafting arrangement will go in her? What are your plans for the deck/helm? Will there be a cabin?
Thanks,
Chris

Hey Ricochet and Mik,
thanks for the comments.
Unfortunantly I dont have any pics on the actual glassing stage of the hull as I was busy glassing whilst the wife was mixing the resin, it was a pretty big job for the two of us being the hull is around 25 feet.
As for plans for the paint towards the bow to the waterline will be Flag Blue which is a International product below the water line will be still unsure whether a hard or self polishing anti fowling but again this will be flag blue still not sure if I will lay down a white line along the LWL.
Check out the international website they have alot of guides and products to make it easy for the amateur boat builder what undercoats to use with what etc.
How did I get her to this stage ? Alot of perserverance and weekend work sanding in the heat but its all worth it so far.
The driveline I will be putting in is a new Volvo Penta DuoProp 4.3l injected system I am lashing out and saving my pennies for a proffesional installation of the engine systems.
As for the Helm and Deck. She will have a double bed up forward with a toilet and sink below deck. the upper deck she will have full GPS nav set via onboard computer system which will also double as a media centre pv for the lcd tv and entertainment system. BBQ stb side under seats and also an ice box port side. Hidden tackle box and fishing rod stowage.
Well I hop so anyway thats the pipe dream see how much my money stretches before I get to keen to get her in the water.
Good Luck
