Rare classic with intriguing history
Greetings Boateez,
a few years ago after being involved as a cabinetmaker on the superyacht Cambria II, I had a small(me,myself & I) business on the Gold Coast maintaining boats. My favourite client was a very nice bloke with a 30ft Kauri plank cruiser. "Gloaming" was built for Sir Tristan Love, founder of Uncle Tobies, in 1916 by Holmes of Sydney. In the 1930's Holmes was involved in the notorious "shark arm murder".
I have undertaken extensive work including cabinets, teak decks & fittings & repainting of just about every painted surface. Every minute of toil on this beauty can only be described as a pleasure & a priviledge.
The owner, Glen Alfred, lives aboard & nearly every monday to wednesday can be found anchored near Jumpinpin. Glen has become my best mate & we have had many memorable excursions on the Broadwater. To view some videos go to Youtube.com & enter "Dean Sibley" in the search box.
Having only lived in Sth wst Brisbane for a couple of years I would also like to meet a few local boaties. Don't hesitate to contact me at - [email protected]
