Hi There,

I own a 38 ft timber ketch "Larapinta" built in Sydney in 1945. She is basically sound but has a few leaking fastenings.
Last time she was out of the water I removed a few that were leaking the most and found that the timber around the old fastening was wet so I drilled this out and fitted a hardwood dowel.
This has sealed it up well but I am not sure what strength this has.
Does any one know what is the best way to replace fastenings like this.
They are roved copper nails and the timber is spotted gum.

Regards
Rob
