I am starting to repair about six broken frames and to cover a few redundant thru holes in my 30 foot cruiser . The broken frames are directly over the keelson and I believe were originally built out of spotted gum . The repairs will be fairly short length so will not require steaming. While i would like to stick to spotted gum, the difficulty arises out of sourcing seasoned timber so am looking at alternatives. Can anyone let me know what other hardwood timber ( hopea has been mentioned to me) may be suitable and timber yards where it can be purchases in central or southern Qld
