    Default Best type of gloves

Hi. What sort of gloves do you guys use when handling epoxy. I've heard that latex is no good, but not heard why. I've also heard that epoxy can pass through many types of cheap gloves. Be interested to know what type or brand people are using.

    cheers

    Gday Arron,
This is olbassy and I hope this is the correct way to send a reply......
I've recently learnt the hard way about epoxy (brilliant glue for sticking old boats together).... supermarkets all stock your gloves.... if your allergic get the NON LATEX surgical gloves.... I also found lanolin mixed with baby oil makes putting the gloves on and off easier... and also stops the fumes burning you on your forehead and above your gloves etc....but do not get any on the job!
    Regards

Yeah, OK, missed that one. It seems most of you use disposable nitrile gloves, bought in packs of a hundred or so.

    thanks

Hi Arron, I work in the medical field where allergy to latex is common. IMHO the best non-latex gloves by far are Kimberley-Clark Purple Nitrile-Xtra Powder-Free Exam Glove, order ref# 50603. Phone 1800 101 021. They're as tough as nails, won't dissolve in most solvents and have a long cuff. They leave vinyl gloves for dead. Cheers Simon

Acetone dissolves vinyl gloves instantly - guess how I know. Vinyl is marginally better than latex though.
