    Default water based paint and salt water ?

    gday guys i just put together a little plywood boat and i mean little i made it to tow behind my kayak and carry my crab nets and fishing gear ok and some beer hehe, i wanted t know if i could just paint it with timber undercoat waterbased paint and then a top coat also waterbased
    i would like it too last more than a couple of seasons
    i would bring it home and rinse it off with fresh water and keep it in my shed
    so is it doable what do you think

    A good quality of acrylic house (latex, water based) paint will do, especially if you hose it off with fresh after each use. Use porch and patio paint, which seems a little more durable.

    For extra durability and moisture resistance, use high gloss top coats. Flat paints tend to absorb moisture, so if you want a flat finish use gloss "build coats" then a last coat of flat.

    Don't skimp on paint. A good primer base should be fairly thick in several layers (coats). The same with top coats. Two coats of primer and two coats of top coat will work, but it doesn't last that long. Double this and the paint has enough "bulk" to actualy offer some protection, particularly if you live in an extreme environment (you know who you are).

    gday guys thought i would show my baby sized boat after i painted it, sure was a lot of paint you can have a laugh if you want my brother thinks im an idiot but im sure he wont when im towing his beer around on the swan river
